温州，古称瓯。旧城为东晋著名学者郭璞根据风水思想而建。当时，郭璞登上南岸的西郭山，见数峰错立，状如北斗，华盖山锁“北斗之口”，以此设计温州城。故而温州有“山如北斗城似锁”之美称，别称“斗城”。传说筑城时，有白鹿衔花而过，人们视为瑞兆，故温州又别称“鹿城”。
